Choose the process with high frequency, cost, or error rate and reasonably clear data. We measure current time, people involved, exceptions, and economic impact, and compare the automation effort. The ideal first project isn't necessarily the biggest one: it's the one that can demonstrate value quickly and create a reusable foundation.
